Overview
The city of Jaén, located in northern Peru’s Cajamarca region, is one of the country’s most important coffee hubs. Its strategic location, favorable climate for drying coffee, and access road to the Paita port in Piura make it a key center for connecting local producers with both national and international markets.
Founded in 2012, Finca Chorro Blanco S.R.L. is a family-owned business that operates a dry coffee processing plant and engages in coffee trading. The company began operations in 2021 and today sources coffee from more than 12 small producer organizations and over 224 individual coffee producers. Its certified organic and Rainforest Alliance plant has the capacity to process 250 containers annually (125,000 quintals), benefiting more than 2,600 producers across Cajamarca and Amazonas.
Finca Chorro Blanco provides a wide range of services, including processing micro lot coffees, small batches of high-quality beans cultivated under unique conditions and processed separately to maintain their distinct flavor, that require specialized equipment. This service allows small producers to access higher-value markets, as these coffees are recognized for their quality and rarity. By purchasing both premium and standard coffee, the company ensures local producers can sell their entire coffee harvest, create additional, stable income opportunities and reduce barriers such as poverty, lack of infrastructure, and limited access to buyers.
Through its operations, Finca Chorro Blanco generates employment for 17 staff members (18% women) and provides market access for thousands of smallholder farmers, 30% of whom are women.

NESsT Investment
Finca Chorro Blanco joined the NESsT portfolio seeking financing and advisory support to expand its dry coffee processing operations and continue building resilience for coffee communities in one of Peru’s most vulnerable regions.
NESsT’s loan to Finca Chorro Blanco will cover the purchase of new equipment and working capital to continue sourcing coffee from local farmers, supporting sustainable livelihoods in an area where poverty remains prevalent.
By combining financial investment with tailored business support, NESsT portfolio managers will work alongside the company in strengthening its commercial management, financial systems, and strategies to grow its micro lot line. They will also provide guidance on improving supply chain traceability, client acquisition, and adopting best practices for sustainable processing.
As part of the Lirio Fund, Finca Chorro Blanco aims to continue prioritizing sustainable coffee processing in northern Peru, while raising incomes for thousands of smallholder families.
