Heading to COP30: Strengthening the Voices and Solutions of Amazonian Territories

ESPAÑOLPORTUGUÊS

Beginning next week, NESsT will participate in COP30 Brazil, in Belém, Pará (November 10-21) — a historic conference that will place the Amazon at the center of global climate discussions and mark the largest Indigenous presence ever recorded in UN negotiations.

We will be there alongside entrepreneurs from our Amazon portfolio, bringing experiences born in the territories and showing that the most effective climate solutions come from those who live in and protect the forest.

In recent years, NESsT has been working in partnership with Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities (IPLCs), supporting the growth of enterprises that preserve ecosystems, generate income, and foster climate resilience.

During COP30, the organization’s efforts will focus on three interconnected priorities:

  1. Ensuring that Indigenous and local voices influence global climate decisions
NESsT advocates that ancestral knowledge and community-led management must be at the core of climate solutions. Its participation in the conference seeks to help ensure these perspectives are heard and valued in international decision-making processes.

  2. Mobilizing financing for enterprises led by local and Indigenous communities
Direct access to funding remains one of the greatest challenges for those already implementing concrete solutions on the ground. NESsT works to bridge investors and financial mechanisms with these initiatives, creating pathways between patient capital and community impact.

  3. Strengthening the socio-bioeconomy as a pathway to a regenerative future for people and the planet
The socio-bioeconomy represents a regenerative economy — based on balance between conservation, innovation, and collective well-being. NESsT’s role is to support the entrepreneurs who are building this future in practice.

In addition to panels and activities to be announced soon, NESsT will also join collaborative spaces for dialogue and networking, such as Nossa Aldeia, at Casa Maraká — a gathering that will bring together communities, artists, and activists from around the world around culture, solidarity, and collective action for climate justice.

At COP30, NESsT reaffirms its commitment to listening, learning, and joining forces so that the leadership of Amazonian communities is recognized and valued.

The solutions for the climate are already being cultivated in the Amazon — and it is this strength that the organization hopes to see reflected in global decisions.
