NESsT announces today that it has joined the Sustainable Connections Institute (Conexsus), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the Green Climate Fund (GCF) in AmazonBeEco, an unprecedented four-year initiative to support the sociobioeconomy in the Pan-Amazon region.

NESsT announces Renata Truzzi has been named Chief Impact & Operations Officer. Truzzi – who joined the organization in 2012 – has served in multiple capacities within NESsT, most recently as Global Acceleration & Impact Director. Her background in impact investing, business development, marketing, and fundraising will further support NESsT’s organizational effectiveness and operational excellence.
We’re delighted to release the NESsT 2024 Annual Report, highlighting a year defined by far-reaching impact and transformative growth. For nearly three decades, NESsT has worked at the nexus of people, profit, and the planet. In 2024, we reached a milestone that speaks to this mission: since its founding, NESsT has positively impacted the lives of over 3.4 million people from communities around the world.
Sweden joins as a donor to NESsT’s long-standing South America acceleration program, enabling the program to increase the number of enterprises it supports and to expand its efforts in Colombia, Peru, and into Brazil.
Through the NESsT-Kiva partnership, Suritex has obtained a total of $50,000 of financing as credit that will allow the company to expand its operations and include more smallholders who can sell their alpaca fiber at a fair price. This was achieved over the course of two Kiva campaigns in September and December.

After nearly 20 years of developing social enterprises, our work and our strategy have evolved to encompass so much more than what we ever had envisioned when NESsT started. Today, we turn our sights to an even loftier goal. We are committing to providing jobs and income to lift 50,000 people out of poverty in the next five years so that they too have opportunities for dignified lives.
Venture philanthropy recognizes that a great program – one that teaches kids to read, helps lift people out of poverty, or improves health outcomes – is no stronger than the organization underpinning its delivery. It’s crucial to invest in the organization and its capacity. If you want to have effective, sustainable programs that really make a difference, you must have a strong, stable organizational infrastructure supporting it. You have to go beyond writing a check and take a long-term view of what it means to invest in solutions to global or local problems.
