Enterprising Solutions in Low-Income Communities NESsT: Annual Report 2013–2014

• NESsT held 8 competitions in six emerging market countries: Brazil, Chile, Hungary, Peru, Poland, and Romania. • NESsT received more than 1,025 applications from new and existing entrepreneurs, organizations, and small businesses. • After a rigorous selection process, we awarded 22 social enterprises a total of $200,000 in prize awards to launch their operations and enter our portfolio.

W ramach trwającej właśnie edycji Konkursu dla Przedsiębiorstw Społecznych NESsT po raz pierwszy organizacjom przyznane zostało wsparcie finansowe na dalszą pracę na przygotowaniem biznes planu przedsięwzięcia. Engaged philanthropy (or “venture philanthropy”) proposes a hybrid approach to charity. It combines the principles used in the non-profit sector, of business financing via grants, with those typically used in the for-profit sector, meaning investment and “venture capital.”
