NESsT in Romania

NESsT has conducted two social enterprise competitions in Romania since its launch in May 2007. Over 100 organizations have applied, and 61 of them have received training in NESsT’s planning stage methodology to identify, assess and develop social enterprises aimed at increasing their sustainability and mission impact. NESsT provides capacity building and financial support to an incubation stage portfolio consisting of 9 high impact social enterprises that provide employment and sustainable solutions to Romania´s critical social problems. Currently, as of December 2011, the third social enterprise competition in Romania is underway, with the strategic partnership of the Romanian American Foundation. 85 organizations have applied for the 2011-2012 competition and 25 have been selected to join the planning phase.
