Nhlanhla Nyembe is currently the Fund Manager for iMbewu Fund, which is a Fund focusing on providing funding to SMEs. Mr Nyembe has been running the Fund since its inception in 2005 and to date has a portfolio of 272 transactions worth R863 million. He has been with the NEF for 10 years and has also been instrumental in the establishment of the Rural and Community Development Fund, which focuses on providing funding to projects that are pioneered and run by communities in both rural and peri-urban areas.

Prior to joining NEF, Mr Nyembe worked for the USAID Venture Capital Fund which invested in the SADC region for 6 years. He concluded investments in countries such Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya and Malawi. Deals concluded were mainly in the following services, manufacturing, agro-processing, services and financial services.

Mr Nyembe holds a B Com Degree from the University of Witwatersrand specialising in Finance and Accounting.
