Duncan Osler, who is a member of the Board of Directors of Social Enterprise Scotland, is a Partner with Scottish law firm MacRoberts LLP.

Duncan leads MacRoberts’ Charities/Third Sector Group which advises a number of social enterprises and other Third Sector bodies in the Scotland and UK on a variety of collaborations and contracts, on legal structures and good governance. Legal aspects of the social return on investments are a particular focus, as are arrangements between the public sector and the third sector. Duncan leads the MacRoberts team supporting Ready for Business LLP in delivering a major Scottish Government programme to maximise community engagement and social value out of public sector commissioning and procurement.

Duncan is head of the Firm’s Public Law & Government Group, advising the public private and third sectors on procurement and contracting. As well as advising on many high profile and high value procurements he has particular expertise in relation to social value in public contracting, and collaborative procurement. Duncan is accredited by the Law Society of Scotland as a specialist in Public Procurement Law. He serves on the Management Committee of the UK-based Procurement Lawyers Association.

Duncan studied law at Aberdeen University where we graduated with a First Class Honours LLB degree (with French). Duncan has worked for law firms in Scotland and in London and he is qualified as a solicitor in Scotland and also as a solicitor in England and Wales. He is on twitter @duncanthespark
