Derek Gallo

Derek recently co-founded BRiiX, an impact investing platform in Brazil, as well as Sangha Investments, a financial advisory firm focused on sustainability, cleantech and social enterprises. He is also a co-founder of PlugnWork, a start-up friendly co-working space in São Paulo. Previously, he worked seven years at BroadSpan Capital, most recently as Director in Brazil, executing middle market M&A, capital raises and project finance transactions, specializing in clean energy, environmental services and agribusiness. In 2003, Derek opened the Brazilian office of E+Co, responsible for origination, execution and portfolio management of a UNF/UNEP sponsored impact investing fund for clean energy SMEs. Derek began his career at JPMorgan Chase in NY as a Brazil Credit Analyst and then as an Associate in the Latin America TMT group, executing M&A transactions throughout the region.

Derek has invested in several social enterprises, including EcoService, a rural infrastructure company that has brought PV powered household water to over 100 indigenous communities in northern Brazil, built schools in rural settlements and is presently focused on low/middle income residential green building. He also serves on the Fiscal Council of Associação Dobem, a Brazilian NGO that promotes Integral human development, as inspired by Ken Wilber and co-founded Integral Foundation, a 501(c)(iii) that supports social entrepreneurs and NGOs, including fundraising for Agencia Mandalla DHSA, a permaculture focused Brazilian NGO.

Mr. Gallo holds a B.A. in Economics and Spanish & Latin American studies from Duke University, Magna Cum Laude, and studied abroad in Argentina, Brazil and Chile.
