Clare Brooks serves as Director of Philanthropy of one of the UK’s fastest growing philanthropy intermediary organisations, Community Foundation Network (CFN). She has over eighteen years’ experience in the philanthropy field working with foundations and nonprofits at home and abroad (USA, UK and Central and Eastern Europe). Ten of these have been spent working intensively with community foundations.
She joined CFN in London in 1999 to oversee the growth of UK network, firstly by helping to form and develop new community foundations and latterly in the development of key programmes and the Network’s philanthropy practice.
For eight years prior to this she was based in Prague and worked extensively across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), for both the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation, and with one of the first post-communist Czechoslovak foundations, the Civic Forum Foundation. It was whilst working with the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation that Clare first encountered the new opportunities brought to the CEE region by NESsT.
Clare is a Board member of the European Association for Planned Giving, and advises on numerous committees and panels which include: The Community Foundation of Singapore; The Via Foundation (Czech Republic); Philanthropy UK, The Slovak Donors Forum. In 2009 she was invited to be a Judge for the Charity Times awards.
She is Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.
Clare has a BA (Hons) degree in Russian and Italian.
