Piscu is a village near Bucharest with a long history in pottery making, a craft passed on from one generation to the next. Like many other villages in Romania, this tradition is being lost. Of the 120 kilns in full use in the 1980s, today only five kilns remain semi-functional in Piscu. The association offers workshops in crafts making including pottery, glass and painting for children. The revenues from the workshops support the only public primary school in Piscu while preserving local cultural traditions.

NESsT Investment

Gaspar, Baltasar and Melchior Association joined the NESsT portfolio in 2013. Since then, NESsT has invested financial capital, as well as tailored business development support in the business.

  • Invested US$10,000 to date.

  • Guided the association to create and implement a sales strategy and communication strategy, including support in recruiting a communication specialist and measuring and monitoring impact.
  • Helped leverage US$9,500 in additional support for the overall development of the organization.
Our collaboration with NESsT gives our organization a more professional approach, promoting awareness and proper planning of the social enterprise activities. For our organization, NESsT is a good vehicle for self-assessment and a great advisor.
