Luis Danton Martinez is the Deputy Director of Compliance for Citigroup’s Global Consumer Group. He is responsible of addressing and managing Compliance strategic issues and projects across Citigroup’s different consumer businesses. He began his career with Citigroup in 1998 as legal counsel for Citibank Mexico, becoming subsequently General Counsel for the Corporate and Investment Bank. He participated in the acquisition of Banamex by Citigroup in 2001 and became Corporate and Regulatory General Counsel for Banamex, where he was responsible for corporate governance and regulatory relationships. He has also participated actively in industry organizations, such as the Mexican Bank Association. Luis Danton has also been a professor of commercial and banking law in Mexico’s National University’s Law School and has published several articles on the reform of the Mexican financial system and on the creation of a mortgage-backed securities market in Mexico. He has an MBA and LLM from the University of California at Los Angeles, a Law degree from the Law School in the National University of Mexico and has also attended courses in the Harvard Business School on corporate governance.
