"I am very interested in the NGO sector. I believe that NGOs play an important role in civil society, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, and have great potential to develop. But, as an economist, I can see that many nonprofits have difficulties in long-term sustainable funding, managing the organization, employing professional staff etc. and I can see the need for integrating new mechanisms for managing and sustaining the organization. Therefore, I have found NESsT’s mission very interesting and innovative." Background: In November, 2006, Justyna received a degree in Economics at Warsaw University, with a specialization in International Economics, where she completed her thesis, "The Role of the Nonprofit Sector in Social and Economic Policy in Poland After 1989". Since beginning her university education, she has been an active member of International Student Association - AIESEC and had the opportunity to work on many interesting projects. She participated in Warsaw’s Career Days 2002 – a national event where students and graduates have the chance to meet the most desired employers in Poland. She created and led the Business for Volunteer Exchange Project, which focused on spreading corporate social responsibility among Polish companies; and the Youth Development Exchange Project 2004, whose aim was to show the advantages of the nonprofit sector in Poland. In 2003-2004 she was Vice President of Human Resources and Governmental & Non-Governmental Organizations (GOs&NGOs). She was responsible for managing the local committee at Warsaw University with more than 50 members and external contacts with representatives of non-governmental organizations. While studying she gained experience in one of the biggest polish banks - BPH Bank S.A. (Warsaw) - in its Human Resources Department. She was responsible for selection of applications, management of the candidate database, contact with external agencies, and supporting the creation of a competency model. Later she held an internship at the international recruitment consultancy company HAYS Poland Sp. z o.o. She has also worked for the NGO Italian Emmaus Community.
