An intensive seminar on social enterprise in emerging market countries for graduate students and mid-career professionals.

Launched by NESsT in 2003, the International Social Enterprise Exchange (ISEE) is a biennial, intensive, weeklong training series focusing on the development of social enterprise in emerging market countries.

Designed specifically for graduate-level students and mid-career professionals in business administration, nonprofit management and international development, ISEE combines classroom study, field/casework, and eco/adventure tourism experiences to provide participants with an intensive introduction to social enterprise development in the emerging market context. Participants benefit from the experience of an international faculty of leading thinkers and practitioners in social enterprise development.

ISEE Participant Profiles

"ISEE was an important complement to my classroom education.  It gave me the opportunity to see social enterprise first hand and helped me to understand the issues faced by organizations trying to have a social impact in developing nations.  The experience was invaluable.”

-- Mark McKeag, ISEE Chile 2004 participant; MBA candidate, Fuqua School of Business, Duke University

"The ISEE program was the perfect blend of classroom study, field visits to operating social enterprises and cultural experiences.  The program gave me a solid understanding of many of the key concepts involved in starting a social enterprise and the ability to apply these in my work with NGOs."

-- Katherine Schad, ISEE Chile 2004 participant; Counterpart International

"The combination of a clear introduction to NESsT's work, interactive site visits with the people leading and working behind the scenes in each social enterprise, insight into Chile's turbulent history and cultural riches, the flexibility and warmth of the entire NESsT staff, and the stunning Chilean landscape made ISEE Chile a fantastic experience.  ISEE has enabled me to envision myself leading a social enterprise and to maintain the motivation to focus on my studies with that ultimate goal in mind."

-- David Kramer, ISEE Chile 2004 participant; Public Policy candidate, John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University
