Teresa Corção is the founder and president of the Instituto Maniva, which develops projects in the areas of agriculture, culture, education and environment. Using food and Brazilian gastronomy as an instrument of social change, Instituto Maniva started its activities in 2002 with Tapioca workshops, teaching more than 3,200 children about the origins of cassava and its importance to Brazil. Maniva has developed and released two award-winning documentaries about the production of cassava flour and operates numerous educational programs to introduce young people to the Brazilian culinary arts and skills to improve opportunities for income generation.

Teresa is also founder of Ecochefs, a network of Brazilian chefs dedicated to teaching and practicing the principles of slow, organic, healthy foods. The Ecochefs work with communities of family farms promoting the flow of local food from the farms of small producers to urban restaurants.

Teresa is the owner and the executive chef of the prestigious gourmet O Navegador restaurant, located in Rio de Janeiro since 1981.
